William Blackney collection.

This collection consists of various papers of Congressman William Blackney and covers the years 1938-1963. The collection consists mainly of scrapbooks, which contain newspaper clippings, reports, drafts of speeches, letters in, carbons out, photographs, invitations, commorative booklets, campaign posters, and brochures. Some of the subjects covered include the question of neutrality, naval armaments, New Deal legislation and elections (1832-1952). The collection also contains a World War II photographic album tour of the South Pacific, legislation introduced by Blackney, speeches in Congressional record, photographs and an obituary.

Congressman Blackney served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1935-1936, and 1939-1952. He represented the "old sixth district" which included Ingham, Genesee, and Livingston counties.
